It’s truly amazing how people can blame the victim(s). It’s like that video I reblogged of that white chick complaining about how people got pissed at her for calling Tarrlok a nigger. I commented on it and reblogged it and sure enough someone came in and started telling me that I needed to “act like an adult” and “how they understood what she meant” and so on and so forth. Here I am the victim, I’m one of the people that was offended by her disgusting post and her video. And all that person was concerned with was tone policing me, basically telling me to shut the fuck up and get over it.
I and others reblog countlessly whitewashed fanart, FC (face claims), etc., and all everyone else is concerned with is the role-player’s or the artist’s feelings. Not the people offended, but the person who did the whitewashing.
What do you call that?
I call that privilege.
The privilege to decide whether or not someone is allowed to be offended.
The privilege to say hurtful things and then have your feelings prioritized over those you have hurt.
